MAREL Insulated piercing connector with integrated fuse is designed to establish contact by simultaniously piercing the insulation on LV ABC conductors of main power distribution line and LV ABC network connection conductor or LV ABC conductors of street lighting connection line. This connector has an option for bare main line, with insulated contact plates or non-insulated contact pads. It is manufactured in such way that it enables connection of LV ABC and branch conductor regardless of whether it is an aluminum or a copper conductor. The housing of the connector is made of polymer resistant to high temperature and UV radiation and the rubber insert eliminates the appearance of electrolytic corrosion since it prevents the appearance of moisture at contact points. The contact plates are protected with electrical contact grease. An important and unique feature of this connector is that it has the function to limit the maximum current (Imax) through the connector, which is important in order to protect power distribution network from overload and to protect electricity consumers from voltage drops in power distribution network. The connector has an electrically insulated housing where a standard fuse cartridge 10.3x38 mm is placed with current limit range from 1A to 32 A.

RANGE OF USE:
Cross-section of the main line Aluminum (Al) or Copper (Cu) 16 mm² to 95 mm²;
Cross-section of the tap line Aluminum (AL) or Copper (Cu) 1,5 mm² to 35 mm²;
NOTE: the product can be delivered with PA shear head nut, AlPA shear head nut or Zamak shear head nut.
At Customer request PA shear head nut can be made in different colour.

End cap is flexible in order to ensure insertion of the
tap-off conductor. Left or right orientation of the branch line is possible.
Branch conductor

Hole for sealing fuse holder.
Sealing enables prevention of unauthorized opening of the connector and replacement offuse cartridge.
Main Advantages
- Function to limit maximum current (Imax) through connector and at the same time through branch line The connector uses a standard fuse.
- Operation under voltage is allowed in case there is no load on the tap-off line or if the fuse holder is empty. In case of overvoltage, i.e. If voltage increases on the main line of a power distribution network, the connector prevents increases of current through the branch line thus protecting the consumers.
- In case of breakage of branch conductor, the conneсtor protects the part of the network from the breakage point of the main conductor thus
protecting the substation. - It is ideal due to its safety and possibility to be used more than once in cases of occasional temporary connections (seasonal connections).
